About the Levels
All Levels
A large majority of our articles are intended for All Levels, because they are about folkstyle wrestling officiating generally and contain information pertinent to officials at every level of competition. When this is not the case, an article will receive one of the other three designations.
Collegiate
Collegiate means folkstyle wrestling sanctioned by any of the following intercollegiate athletic associations:
NCAA
NAIA
NCWA
NJCAA
Articles designated as Collegiate contain information that is relevant only at the collegiate level, due to rules differences or other unique aspects of officiating at that level.
High School
High School means folkstyle wrestling under National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules.
Articles designated as High School contain information that is relevant to either (1) high school wrestling only, i.e., it would only be pertinent to those officiating state-sanctioned high school competition (and, therefore, not to one who chooses to officiate only at the Youth level), or (2) high school as well as youth levels. This designation also means that the information would not be relevant to those officiating only at the Collegiate level due to rules differences or other unique aspects of officiating at the High School level (if it was, it would be relevant to all levels and would therefore simply be designated as All Levels).
Youth
Youth means NFHS with modified rules, such as shorter periods and different weight classes. It includes any level below actual high school competition, up to and including junior high competition.
Youth articles are articles that specifically focus in on the nuances of officiating younger kids. Youth competition is the starting point for building future championship wrestlers — and officials.
